Took separate flights, he took SQ while I flew Cx with a transit stop in Hkg...
Luckily for such thing as online check-in, hence there's no need to queue...
The toilet in Terminal 1 provide a great viewing of the aircrafts... with great mirrors & comfortable seats for cam-whoring ...
Onboard food...ate the omelette as I was hungry by then...though I thought I'd skipped supper initially...food was ok, although nothing fantastic.
It was a past midnight night flight from sin to hkg, and service took quite long, hence only managed about 30mins of sleep before the pre-landing announcement came on...
transit in hkg
Went for my favorite breakfast, McDonald's. Used to go for sausage mcmuffin with eggs, but recently opt for Filet-o-fish...
Hkg to Taipei flight. The refreshment sandwich (omelette with ham) was very yummy. Loved it!!!
Taoyuan airport Terminal1 - under renovation.
The waiting area outside the arrival area. Waited here for Jones for about 10mins before I realised that SQ flight arrives in Terminal 2!!! Rushed all the way there in case I missed him when he came out...
the sky-train
Waiting area in Terminal 2 ...what a great difference in terms of decor and the level of comfort...
There's 2 big tv screens that shows the passengers coming out of the terminal, hence you can sit comfortably at the seat waiting till the ones you're waiting for appears on the screen...
On the bus to Sheraton Hotel in Taipei. Journey took about slightly more than1hr from airport, cost only NT90 per person (about sgd4), but it makes a few stops along the way, which explains its cost & time. However, there was also quite a traffic along the way, which adds to the long journey. Bus tickets can be bought from either Terminals, and there seems to be a number of places that the buses operate to, just have to ask the people selling the bus tickets there. The seats are pretty comfortable.
This was the bus station at the airport which we bought our tickets from. Nice & clean.
Went out for early dinner (or late lunch?) after settling into our hotel. Decided on this ramen joint in Taipei Main Station after a long walk. Yummy.
We loved the seaweed but not the pork cutlet as it was way too salty.
Went back hotel for a nap after food before heading out to a Shilin market at night.
think this drink is call "ai-yu ping", which is refreshing with some jelly thingy in it.
Jones was searching for porridge, but since we couldn't find any, we decided to go for this as it looks like those zi-char place and with such a large crowd, the food should be good...but mainly he saw that they sell seafood soup and he wanted something soupy....as for me, am still too full from all my eating earlier on....
iced green oolong tea...
One of the many game stalls at Shilin market.
That's it for day 1.
